Charging and discharging reactors is a critical job that demands the highest levels of safety and efficiency. Mourik is one of the few companies in the world that have mastered this task.
The M-lance is an automated system for discharging reactors. The system reduces the down-time of the reactor by approximately half. Thanks to the M-lance, work in the reactor is much safer and only one quarter of the people are needed compared to manual discharging.

The TOFD / PE (time of flight diffraction and pulse echo) device is a very high quality ultrasonic measuring device, developed for TÜV Rheinland Sonovation, that is used to check and certify the quality of welds. The device is used in heavy machine building, oil and gas industry and offshore activities.
The device uses ultrasonic sound pulses to create an insight view of welds, thus making it possible to assess the quality of welds in a non-destructive manner. The measuring data is send by means of a pre-amp to an industrial laptop for analyses.

In cooperation with Volvo Construction Equipment we designed the L350I Hybrid, a concept study for a future successor of the present L350F. The Volvo L350I Hybrid is a 52-tons wheel loader, designed to withstand the toughest operating conditions. The machine is equipped with an efficient Volvo diesel engine in combination with plug-in hybrid technology, offering at least 15% - 25% lower fuel consumption than its size class competitors.

The hybrid system includes powerful electric linear actuators, to replace hydraulic cylinders and the hydraulic pump. While lowering the load, electric energy can be regenerated by the same linear actuators. Braking will result as well in energy regeneration, while accelerating is assisted by the electro motors. Short term jobs can be done completely electrically, after which the batteries can be charged again with a fast charger.
When it comes to the interior, we have listened to the machine operators very well. During test-drives that we performed on several machines, we listened to and observed drivers in their daily work.

Everything in the interior redesign has been focused on creating a peaceful, quite and comfortable space for the driver, with intuitive ergonomics and high quality materials, that help focus on driving responsibly fast, safely and sustainable.

Focus and concentration for the operator are translated in a high quality leather chair with most controls for driving and operating the machine integrated in the arm-rests. The steering wheel has been removed, in that place a high resolution display combined with analog clocks has been placed for optimal feedback on driving and vehicle information.

The M-Ty is a handheld device attached to the M-Lance. While the M-Lance is carrying out a run, the operator performs a cross-check of the previous batch of pipes with the M-Ty. This way of working eliminates the tedious and time-consuming manual check that used to be necessary after unloading the reactor. This saves valuable turnaround time and removes a potential fault point.
The M-Ty measures with a constant airflow whether the tubes are completely emptied. If this is the case, a green marker appears and the operator closes the tube with a green cap. If the tube is not completely emptied, a red marker appears and the operator shields the tube with a red cap. When finishing unloading, the top tube sheet is covered with green and some red caps. The red spots needs to be reworked, until all of the top sheet is green. This way the M-ty contributes to an efficient and secure unloading process.

This fully automatic toilet system has been designed specifically for public spaces, like airports and offices. The patented system places a new soft paper layer on the toilet seat before use, so that the user is absolutely sure of a clean toilet seat.
The system is more hygienic then competing systems, that offer to clean the seat, but in many case wipe dirt over the rotating toilet seat. Because the user actually sees that a new paper seat cover is being laid down on the seat, he or she is absolutely sure it is clean. The system very well resembles the mental model that especially female users have and copies natural behavior of women.

Tensio+ paper machine tension measuring device

The design offers a total new look & feel compared to competition, with a strongly improved user friendliness and much better measuring results. The device measures the mechanical stress in the press and drying felts of a paper machines. These felts are more or less like conveyor belts, on which the paper pulp is drying and pressing.
Conventional measuring devices give large differences in measuring results between users, even when they at the same time measure on the same spot, but also the absolute deviations can go up as high as 100%. With the Tensio+ this absolute deviation was lowered to less then 5% and also the differences between users has disappeared by using smart measuring technology and software.

Handling of paper machine fabrics and felts during a machine stop can be a hard job. The Capto helps making the installation of a new felt or fabric a safer job. Forming fabrics are expensive and delicate; press felts are heavy and stiff; dryer or canvas fabrics are long and stiff; all are difficult to grab and pull into the machine.
Time pressure and high temperatures mean that the working conditions are not always ideal. The Capto clamp eases the process by making the handling a lot easier.

A small effective hand tool for professional concrete drillers.

The device helps to shorten the time of measuring and positioning of the concrete drilling machine and prevents making errors when drilling holes in concrete. The hole in the knob forces the user to measure straight and reduces the chance for errors.
By means of relatively simple design solutions concrete drillers would gain on average about 2 hours per week, which makes tens of thousands of euro's savings per year for an average company with 4 drilling-employees. The product has been succesfully patented.
